What to Wear: Top 10 Swimwear Trends

Although this past winter only served as a mere tease for warm weather fun, the time has come – bikini season is finally upon us!

With sizzling hot temperatures, there could not be a better time to hit the beach in none other than a cute little bikini or fashionable one-piece!

Here are our top ten picks for this swimsuit season:

1.  Notch Cutouts

Afraid of annoying tan lines? Yeah…us too. What better way to avoid them than by sporting a bandeau-style bikini! The notch cutout trend is a new twist on a classic shape and Clube Bossa does it beautifully with their gold “V” hardware and blue & white tribal print.

If you are feeling a little more daring, try Seafolly’s Shimmer U Bandeau in a Pantone’s color of the year…  Tangerine Tango!

That brings us to our second trend:

2. Tangerine Tango

For the beach bunnies out there with a gorgeous bronze already, this trend is for you.

This color trend doesn’t need any patterning or additional fuss to make it glamorous.  Check out Vitamin A’s  Cayenne Bikini  for a bold and glam look and feel free to pair it with gold bangles or sparkly gold fringe earrings!

3. Fringe

If you want to spice up your beach look, don’t be afraid to rock the newest trend right now: Fringe swimwear.  Try this white L*Space Fringe Benefit swimsuit for a cool and sexy contrast in the sizzling summer heat.  When you’re done with  flirting on the beach,  you  can throw on a loose, sheer skirt to transform your look into to a sunset outfit!

4. Color Block

As you may have spotted on the beach, streets or the cover of fashion magazine, colorblocking is still IN this summer.  If pastels are not bold enough for  you, try this cool electric neon “Lights of Ibiza” bikini by A.Che.

5. Monokinis

These are definitely not your typical mother’s one-piece.  Monokinis are figure flattering with their cutout sides and everyone should own at least one hot monokini!

Try this black piece with a macrame twist (above: L*Space Farella) or go glam with Vitamin A 24kt  Knockout.

6. Crochet

Crochet is all over the fashion headlines that we decided it should be just as wearable on the beach as a monokini!  This lime Lattice Crochet Swimsuit is the perfect bikini for those who are bold and want to be extra adventurous. The cutout sides and lattice cutout detailing are so intricate they make this bikini a summer must-have! Pair with bright shades and a silver necklace and your look is complete!

7.  Embellishments

Studs are still trending and they are an obvious personal favorite here at k2o! The Pink Stud Bandeau Bikini perfectly highlights how to combine a soft color like pink with some added edge – even at the beach! The halter-style top makes it easy to stay in the water and the studs are conveniently placed so that they accentuate the curves of your body. Definitely a flattering look for any beach body!

8.  Tribal Prints

Want a tribal printed bikini? Check out Mara Hoffman Maya Print bikini! This tribal print swimsuit is on trend this season, combining brilliant colors and patterns that will have heads turning as you stroll along the shoreline.

9. Animal Print

Animal prints does not always have to be wild.  Snake skin and accented prints offer a more subtle twist on this trend.

Try Melissa Odabash’s Martinique bandeau bikini which offers the added benefit of looking like a tan-line-free, sun-kissed goddess – even after your trip to the beach!

If you prefer bright colors, check out this swimsuit in turquoise,  Caffe Swimwear Embroidered Bandeau Bikini, which  subtly mixes prints and bright colors without looking cheesy. The small hints of cheetah print make this bikini sassy and cute!

10. Stripes

Our top 10 swimwear trend would not be complete if we did not include a staple trend: Stripes!

Try this retro styled Seafolly Pin Up Bikini in nautical colors, blue & white, for a sweet and sexy look.

Whatever your personal beach style is, make sure to bring your towel, your over-sized straw hat for some cover from the sun, and the perfect pair of shades for the perfect day on the sand!
